Hosted TAT Hong Kong Media Trip Shows Support For Our ‘Save the Ocean’ Initiatives Date: 18-19 March 2019

Protecting Koh Phi Phi’s diverse marine life, responsible tourism and the natural beauty of the Nopparatthara National Park were showcased during a recent Hong Kong media trip, proudly hosted by Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand Hong Kong office.

With the focus on the environment and sustainability, the two-day visit was a resounding success. Our General Manager, Chao Treenawong welcomed nine representatives from Hong Kong, who stayed at the resort, experiencing first-hand the fantastic beach, resort facilities, activities and accommodations.

The media trip came at a time when more travellers from Hong Kong are setting their sights on vacations on the island. This is the result of a direct AirAsia flight between Hong Kong and Krabi launched in December 2018; making Phi Phi the perfect quick getaway escape and raising the profile of green tourism to protect Thailand’s natural treasures.

As well as appreciating just how stunning Koh Phi Phi, Krabi and the surrounding islands are, key to the trip was to see up-close our ongoing ‘Save the Ocean’ initiatives. The group happily joined our innovative Coral Reef Nursery Action project designed to combat the devastation of coral bleaching, which resort guests can also volunteer and get involved with.

Coral is grown in our special nurseries close to the beach for nearly a year before being placed under the sea to thrive in the wild. The Hong Kong visitors also spent time exploring the area’s underwater ecosystems through engaging and interactive displays at our unique Marine Discovery Centre; created to connect guests more closely to the destination they are staying.
